Day 11 - A Taste of Summer

It is a little chilly in Wisconsin today-16 degrees. After church Joel grilled out brats - what a treat. We had all the trimmings too. Kraut, onions, relish, baked beans and a fruit salad. YUM!!!! We enjoyed it so much we are grilling out burgers tonight.

  1. wow, I can't imagine grilling in that degree weather!!!! But I do love me some brats!!!

We did hear from Jason, our son in Italy, he is doing well. Jared is our younger son who is still sick. Ya, I don't know why I used to J names either!!! :)

  2. Oh, now that DOES sound good! Are you close to me Luann? I live in the Twin Cities.
Isn't it funny how just a little something grilled can take the bite out of winter for us?

  3. It's not quite that cold for us on the other side of the lake, but this week is supposed to be close to that! A taste of summer in the cold sounds wonderful!

  5. My husband loves brats, and all grilling. We had steaks last night, but I have to admit that it was in the 60s!

  6. I forgot to leave you the recipe. It is:

    1/2 cup steel cut oats
    2 cups water
    1/4 cup half and half
1/2 cup craisins, raisins, or other dried fruit

I cook it on low all night and it is so yummy in the morning! Don't forget to spray the inside of the crock pot b/c it will stick. Enjoy! It will taste so good on a cold morning:)
