Last week I posted about the many things I look forward too. Today I am sooo excited because one of those things I got to do today. Our A & W opened, it is a great place for burgers, deep fried cheese curds, shakes, sundeas and the best root beer you ever have tasted.

My friend at work is quite handy with her sewing machine. She is always whipping something up, mittens, quilts, tree skirts and she made me this awesome table runner. She used some of my fabric leftover from my curtains. Thanks Cheryl - I love it !!!!

I am so excited when the three of us get to sit down and eat dinner together tonight. For you bloggers who have small children- enjoy this part of your day. There are more times than not that it has been just Joel and I. Phil is busy with friends, after school activities and in 7 weeks baseball starts. And Joel usually is out of the house by 6 for meetings and is passing Phil as he is coming home.

I know fall will come soon enough that it will just be two plates at the table. Really... I don't look forward to that. For now I will enjoy each meal we have together as three.

I wish this was the last piece of snow left in my yard. But of course the yard is full. As I stood and looked at the snow covered earth, I started to think about the many things I look forward too when the grass is green.

Phil is taking senior foods this semester. He has always liked helping in the kitchen, mainly chopping things for me. He was excited for this class to start on Monday. They made chicken and dumpling soup. He was in charge of the dumplings for supper tonight.

Isn't funny how different children can be - my daughter wanted nothing to do with the kitchen.

Cheesecake ... just love it - my favorite dessert. I even have a cheesecake cookbook.

We have a pastor/wife gathering tonight and tried a new cheesecake from a new cookbook from Christmas - Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake. The crust looks like it has pepper in it but it is graham cracker crumbs abd chocolate cookies grinded up. Can't wait to try it !! Here is the recipe - cheesecake

Joel and I had a very little car - a KIA Rio. Some called it a golf cart (because it was white) others - well they say we looked like the Flinstones in it. We are tall people (Joel 6.5 and me 5.10) and there was not a lot of room in there. In fact, Joel's head touch the ceiling of the car. So enough is enough and we traded it in for a little more of a spacious car. I told him I feel like I am in a Cadillac!! Thank you Lord for our new blessing.

O.K. I am doing my picture project for a fourth year in a row. I really do enjoy doing this but... there are some days that by the end of the day there is no picture. And really no clue what to take a picture of. So sometimes I feel like I am blog cheating a little bit. So how can you cheat on a blog? I have to admit that there have been a few times when I didn't get a picture on Monday but maybe got a couple on Tuesday. So I use one of those pics for my missing Monday and I can change the dates before posting. I know it doesn't really matter but I feel I have to confess this because today's date is one of those days. No picture on Monday but two on Tuesday. Confused ???

Yesterday it was like Spring - today 6 inches of snow is on the way. This was the first snow we got for the season, yes it is pretty but really liked the spring weather better. I live in WI what was I thinking, that we wouldn't get any snow this year.
Phil had a scheduled day off from school so he helped in the shoveling. Yes, he is shoveling the street. All 7 houses on our street do this. This way when the plow comes down the road you don't get more snow in your driveway.

And then when it is snowing it seems like baking is the right thing to do.

Surprise - I am making another hat. It is a great way to keep yourself awake while sitting on the couch.

I have been trying some shots with the camera where I don't actually look through the view. I love taking the camera, holding it down low, not looking and snapping the picture. It is fun to see how it turns out.

Tomorrow is 10 for 10. Trying to take one picture each hour for 10 hours. Will see how that goes with being at work.

Tomorrow my dad has his bypass surgery. I know he has been having anxiety and that is so to be expected. This whole heart thing has been going on for 6 months, he is ready to get this done and let the healing process begin.

While I have been thinking about him I think about this bible passage "Be still and know that I am God...I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10

To be still in one's soul is to relax and let God be God. It is to listen quietly to God's promises and believe them. It is to be confident that God will solve our problems for us. We need to sit back with quiet confidence and let Jesus be the star. It is to be overwhelmed by God's love at Jesus' manager, cross and empty tomb. It is to know that there is nothing we could ever add to the good news that Jesus has saved us. It is to bow humbly before Jesus and breathe a quiet "Thank you."

As my dad feels stressed he needs to close his eyes and be very still.

We know the Lord will take care of all his needs.

Love you dad - be happy for you when the surgery is done and you can be home recovering.

I spent yesterday winding the balls of yarn. I use to knit, scarves, hats and purses. Now if you ask the men in this house I have become obsessed with crocheting. I love making hats , now that I know how to size them better. One of my nieces got a hat from me for Christmas that was a little on the small side and the other had a hat that kept her nose warm.

Happy New Year Family and Friends !!!!

It was a quiet night here. We went to church, had some snacks, Phil and Caleb popped in and out between friends houses for food. We cleaned our basement this week and found a bottle of Asti on the shelf. These glasses made an appearance for the 1st time, poured some Asti and watched a Packer video. By the way the glasses were a wedding gift - see our initials on the glasses.

Look forward to starting the New Year in church tomorrow. And a Packer win !!!

I look forward to many things in 2012. The first is to watch the Lord's plans for our family to unfold, strengthen my faith through Word and sacrament, be a willing servant, having my dad be done with his bypass surgery and on the road to recovery, Phil's graduation and maybe things with our daughter might improve.

I will continue with this picture a day project for the 4th year. Sara who organized this Project 365 has said, "Lets do it again." I am on board because I really couldn't imagine not doing it. My camera is usually with me where ever I go. I get grief from family and friends about my blog and when I am taking pictures of them. The most heard comment is "So is this going to be on the blog?" I know they are kidding - at least I think they are.

We got these movie passes over a year ago. We got in our seats a little early, ate a little popcorn and tried to remember the last time we were at a movie. We are thinking it was National Treasure. Took us awhile to get was going on in the Sherlock Homes movie because this was a 2nd movie and we of course did not see the first. Half way through I finally got it.

Merry Christmas Bloggers !!!

I have know time to post all my pics on the other site. Things are crazy. Joel is at our Children's Service right now. Phil and I are waiting for him to come home and we can celebrate our Christmas. 9:00 p.m. is our candlelight service - One word for this service - Awesome !!!! Especially with the closing hymn of Silent Night, all of us are holding our candles and only guitar music.

Tomorrow we will be at church at 7:00 a.m. to practice our bells and Joel has the whole service. I love this service - we have a 37 piece orchestra from cello, violin, tuba, tiphany, chimes, trumpets, flutes etc....
It is a sound like no other plus having 500 people singing along with the Christmas hymns.

Today was my last birthday in the 40's. My son was a little mixed up and told people I was 50 today - oops. I told him he needs to make a correction to those people.

I had a great day at work, we all brought food and ate most of the day. Then my boys took me to one of my favorite places for dinner. We all love the Chicken Enchilada soup and my favorite Pecan Crusted Chicken. Was nice just to have time to catch up ( even though we all live in the same house).

The bracelet above is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry and I wear it everyday. Each one has a special meaning. I got a few need beads - the teapot and the one at the end. You can see the I love you and on the other side it says love you more.
This is what we do with the phrase in our home.

Another fun thing is getting all the calls and texts from family and friends. I always try to be the first to call for others birthdays. My niece Katie won that - 6:15 a.m. My parents were right after that at 6:30 a.m.

I am thankful for the 49 years of Grace the Lord has given me, family, friends and health. I look forward to the years ahead to see what the Lord brings into my life.

Did an early birthday lunch with part of my family today. I love Olive Garden soup & salad for lunch. Went back to my parents and mom had an awesome lemon pie. We had our live Nativity tonight. We had over 600 people come to hear the Christmas Story. Feel so blessed that we have families from church who live on farms to share their animals. Also, the people who volunteered to be part of al this. From those dressed in custom, to greeting people and ladies serving refreshments.

VERTIGO - what a nasty thing to get !!! I had it all day yesterday, dizzy, very very dizzy, you just have to lie flat, no moving. Oh my ! My Dr. gave me exercises to do and it should get rid of it. It didn't leave me till about 9:30 last night.

Now I know I had a cookie exchange tomorrow. Which the way I felt didn' really care about. My wonderful husband made 11 dozen cookies for me.

I am actually writing this on Saturday. Thankful that I woke up, felt great and was ready for the cookie exchange. Thanks Joel !!!

I have no picture that I took today but sure have seen this one floating around!! It was one of those busy Sundays, church bible class and then getting ready for our church council Christmas party. It is nice to have 3 pastors in our church so we can rotate many things between the families. This year I did not host the party but we still bring things to help out.

It was a Packer party. If you watch any kind of sports you would hear the screaming in WI. First, on Saturday our WI Badgers won and are going to the Rose Bowl. And then ..... there are "our" Packers on a huge winning streak - 12 & 0. So our Packer party was very exciting. Lots of green and gold, screaming, jumping up and down, high fives, great food and great Christian fellowship with our church family.

I dont' know if I ever talked about how close Phil and all his grade school friends are. They went to school together since 1st grade and all through high school. I love all these kids and love when they come over.

Tonight is the start of our high school basketball season. Was hard for me to go last year because Phil decided not to play. This year I'm o.k. with it.

So these two made a poster for there friend Caleb #20. I think it is strange for them to think this it. We are seniors! Enjoy the next 6 months. Your time will fly.

CHRISTmas in our home

"Unto you a child is born..." CHRISTMAS - such an important time of the church year. As we prepare our hearts for our Savior's birth. Knowing that this small baby would take on the weight of our sins. The suffering, pain, torture that he would take on for us. Why? Because he loves us and he knew what was in store for him and did it willingly for us - because he loves us.

The amazing Nativity sits on our mantel. A man from our former congregation hand carved this for us.

This was a wedding present from Joel's cousins. One of the first things we put out.

Put this on the kitchen table and went with some different colors now that we changed the kitchen colors.

This project was under $10. Container from Goodwill $2 and Christmas ornaments from Shopko 60% off - $6.

Our tree is simple - red and gold ornaments and lots of these picture ornaments. I put a new one on each year for Phil. Fun to look at all of them and see the changes over the years. His senior picture is his 2011 ornament.

May you prepare your hearts and remember the true meaning of Christmas as we wait for the birth of our Savior.

I did red and gold ornaments and I have picture ornaments on the tree. Each year I put one of Phil from that year. So there are 19 of those, a few of Joel and I.

The manager always goes under the tree. Do you put your baby Jesus out right away or do you wait for Christmas?

I really wish there was some way I go show you this (2) DVDs. Our friend John really spent a lot of time on this project. Phil's championship basebal game was on TV this summer. We taped that and all the news casts from that night of the big win.
Besides the game he has some extra added features that are amazing with pictures and music. The boys all got to order one. I have tell you that when we watched it again I cried. O.K. you are thinking really.... it is a ball game. But when your son has been playing baseball since 1st grade and 10 yrs later a State Championship is won. It is truly amazing !!!!

Here I sit waiting to be picked up. The person who use to play doesn't live here anymore. And no one else in this house knows how to play. I am just another thing to dust. I get a few pictures displayed on the top of me. The bench gets used for extra seating once in awhile. No one wanted me either, Craigslist, Freecycle, the church, the school. Salvation Army was so excited to get the call. Yes, yes we would love an old piano in our store. Especially before the holidays. GOOD I said, Come and get her.

And that they did this afternoon. I hope some family will find joy playing those ivory keys. AND I can't wait to rearrange my living room.

My curtains were ready today. Joel picked them up for me. I was sick all day in bed - not fun. When I finally came out to the kitchen that evening the curtains were already hung. So sweet of him to do that for me. Now I have to decide - ribbon or no ribbon.

It's Levi's Farm Party

Katie came over this morning and we went out for breakfast. When we got back home we got to see these two getting their red gathered up. Wisconsin Badger football is a "BIG" deal and this is Phil's first game. People from our church are so gracious with tickets for the Badger and Packer games.
Katie and I went to a cute little coffee shop and discussed our Pinterest projects. I have her hooked too.

We had friends over for cards last night, there was a knock on the door, Joel answered, and in walked my niece Katie!!!! What a surprise on me - everyone knew and I was left in the dark - I hate that !!!! But what a great surprise. Did I say that she lives in MN?? She is has friend that lives about 6 miles from us and stopped by on her way. Loved it !!!!

Found this ottoman in the clearence section at Kohl's today. Love that it matches our stuff !!! Joel loves it in front of his chair. And the top comes off for a storage space too.

Do you like how I stitched on this burlap????? It took me quite awhile, well really..... it didn't.
I cut the piece of burlap to the size of the glass, put the back on the frame and used a dry erase marker to write on the glass. Love this !!!!!!!!!!

Today's my mom's birthday (we celebrated yesterday). Lemonade cake from pinterest. Happy Birthday Mom - God's Blessing's to you - Love you - your #1 daughter. (I am the firstborn)

Today our soccer team played for the state championship. They took 2nd and we are all so proud of them. Aaron is our neighbor and he brought one of his uniforms over for Phil to wear.

Found the fabric for my kitchen curtains today. Just one problem - I don't sew. Usually Joel's mom makes my curtains bu tI don't think I will be seeing her anytime soon. Found out today their is a retired home ec teacher from Phil's school who loves to sew. Think I will be giving her a call.

The End of Football

Tonight we had our "last" football banquet. Very bittersweet for this mom. It was a difficult season because Phil hurt is shoulder in the fourth game of the season. After that he was done, no more football. He has played since 5th grade and I think I was more disappointed then him. I look forward to the football season, watching him get the ball and run for his life to the goal line. But the Lord had different plans for Phil this season. It is also his throwing arm for baseball and we didn't want him to injure it more and not be able to play this spring.
Joel already put his third varsity football on his letter jacket. Each senior got his own football too.

I love to be able to do a project and have everything in my home for it. Yes, I found this on Pinterest !!!

Plywood in the shed -

Burlap in the shed-I washed and ironed it. Then Joel helped me with the staple gun and attached it to the plywood. Got the "G" off the computer and made my stencil.

I love buttons.

I love the way it turned out but the plywood piece is too big. We will trim it down a bit and attach a piece of twine to the back to hang in the kitchen.

Our boys soccer team won sectionals tonight and are going to state. We enjoy watching our neighbor Aaron play this sport. We will be there on Friday to see what happens at state. I took the family Christmas card picture !!!

It has been all about the kitchen this week. Now that the painting is done it was time to put the room back together. My goal - using things in the house, not having to buy hardly anything. I guess you could say I am recycling. $1.79 for paint for this project. Took two so you could see the tealights too.

This was my day off to start the painting and once I start I basically am on a mission to get it done. Our kitchen is rather large so this is a big undertaking. Got the official paint shirt and and started rolling the ceiling at 7:00 a.m. Took a little over 2 hours just for that. Paint in the hair, face, eyelids and even my lashes. Stepped in the tray - you can only imagine that mess.

On to the walls - lots of trimming and painting in the corners. had some lunch, a little more painting and kept watching the clock because I had a haircut at 1:45 p.m. I did not allow myself enough time to get ready, so no make-up, paint in the hair ( figure it would get cut off) did get it off the face, my hands were covered, changed and I was off. Actually looking forward to sitting for about an hour. Got there and the receptionists looks at me and says, "LuAnn, your appointment is tomorrow." Oh nice !!!!! Embarassed and I looked a mess. Was I thinking that this haircut would make me look beautiful? I slowly walked out and then sat in my car and laughed. What is wrong with me.

Came back home and put the paint clothes back on and began painting for a few hours and guess what? I ran out of paint and I am not done. So ..... how was your day ????

These cousins met at the Packer game on Sunday. But the two brothers from MI had no idea Joel would be there and same with Joel. I saw on Karl's facebook that he was at the game and they connected. FUN!!!!

I got to spend the afternoon with Tom and Maria today. I have known Maria since she was in 6th grade. They are getting married next year. I took about 100 pictures of them today. We had a fun afternoon but the wind was in control today.

I am not complaining - I just want to state that before I begin. I am very thankful for the home the Lord has given us. We try to make it as cozy as possible and want our guests to feel that too.

We bought this house over six years ago and I just loved the large kitchen. The green floors and counter tops - well I figure I could live with it. Well we decided it was time- time to make our mark on the kitchen, the walls will be vanilla wafer (the middle color), new ribbons for my curtains and we found a great bargain, at my favorite store "Menard's" new counter tops - Mocha is what they are called. I am so excited to get started on my new blue and well my family might be surprised yellow kitchen. Yellow is my favorite color.
I will show completed project in a few weeks.

I love speding time in my kitchen. I think it is my favorite room of the house. And I can see how it has gotten passed down from generation to generation. My Grandma Klein was amazing cook/baker. One thing that comes to my mind was her Christmas stollen that she mde every year. My mom is always making something yummy too. Whether a new veggie dish, to her grandkids favorite monster cookies. You just never know what treat you are in store for. I am thankful to be able to follow in their footsteps and enjoy the love of cooking/baking.

Today I tried these mocha coffee cupcakes for a bridal shower tomorrow for a lady from church. The whole shower is a coffee theme.

Tomorrow night there will be a pink out at the football game. The American Cancer Society will be raising money for breast cancer awareness. They asked me if I would donate cookies.

My 1000 post - can't believe it. It will be 3 years in January that I started this blog. Glanced through the pictures and have a pattern going. I have many of this group together. Love them all !!!!
